Tooth Fairy! Yup, last night for the first time I got to put a little note and some cash under my son's pillow after he lost his first tooth. His excitement was such a joy to see and a true highlight for us. We've been wiggling this tooth for a while and talking about the Tooth Fairy at length, but it took much longer than expected for this sucker to come out! The big tooth was even growing up under it, so we started getting nervous and I'm just so happy no door knobs, pliers, or dentists needed to be involved.
These days, I won't lie, the mom-ing is tough...like the toughest in my almost 7-years of being a mom. But last night, I made sure to soak in the moment of being a first time Tooth Fairy, knowing the excitement that would come in the morning and just enjoy it. It was so much fun to write him a note, complete with glitter and a crisp bill. I had to decide where to keep his tooth and make sure to put it somewhere safe. This was a moment that I definitely will look back on and smile. I have said it so many times and I'm trying to practice what I preach, to enjoy the little things...
This morning, my son ran into our room and said something was under his pillow. He was a little scared to get it, since ya know...a fairy flew into our house when we were all sleeping, took his tooth and put a note under his pillow! His tooth was gone and he was in awe of the whole experience. It was adorable! Once he got up the courage to get the letter, he brought it into our room where he proudly declared, "Mommy, you were wrong! The Tooth Fairy didn't leave a quarter! She left me much more than that!" A moment we'll never forget. My husband made a big deal about it and got us a special breakfast. We really had a wonderful morning.
As crazy as this time is for all of us, life is going on. Teeth are still falling out and Tooth Fairies are summoned! We are all in different situations and dealing the hand we're dealt, as best as we can. Make sure you cherish the good times. They will help you through the other days. You see, I can speak with a little more authority, now that I can add this new magical title to the list.
